TransMedMat

Our Vision

TransMedMat envisions a new era of medicine empowered by transformative materials that adapt spatially and temporally to the needs of human cells and tissues.

Our strategy is based on the central hypothesis that both tissue formation and the sustainable modification and repair of organ can be achieved only when medical material systems and living cells engage in durable, bilaterally transformative interactions.

These transformative medical materials will be designed to shape biological interfaces and to respond to various internal and external stimuli, allowing them to monitor, interact with, and adapt to their environment. RWTH Aachen University (RWTH) is an Integrated Interdisciplinary University of Science and Technology with longstanding excellence in materials science, production and engineering.

With a dedicated University Hospital and an entrepreneurial culture, it creates an ideal environment within which TransMedMat can accomplish pioneering work in the field of transformative medical materials. This will holistically encompass the early design and development phases to production and potential translation, addressing some of the most compelling clinical challenges of our time – particularly regarding cardiovascular, neurological, fibrotic and oncological diseases.
